Napoli are reportedly looking at Benfica star David Neres or Sassuolo’s Armand Laurienté to replace Hirving Lozano next season.

Mexico international Lozano is only under contract until June 2024 and neither party seems particularly enthusiastic about the idea of an extension.

He therefore has to leave either in January or at the end of the current campaign to avoid Napoli losing him as a free agent.

The hunt is therefore on for a replacement and the Corriere dello Sport and A Bola point towards Benfica talent David Neres.

A 25-year-old Brazil international with seven senior caps, Neres was snapped up from Shakhtar Donetsk in July for €15.3m and already almost tripled his price-tag to €40m.

Neres scored eight goals and provided eight assists in 22 competitive games for Benfica so far this season, and crucially has the versatility to play on the right or the left.

A cheaper alternative to Neres would be Sassuolo winger Laurienté, who just turned 24 and cost only €10m to sign from FC Lorient over the summer.

He made a good impression on Serie A with two goals and three assists in just nine matches.
