The knots to untie are regarding some of the biggest names at the Azzurri and the newspaper claims that veteran Jose Callejon seems destined for a return to his native Spain after the current campaign.

The 33-year-old has not signed a new deal since he extended his stay back in 2016 and the current contract is set to expire in June.

Poland international Piotr Zielinski also provides complications for President Aurelio De Laurentiis, as his renewal is at halt despite his excellent performances under Gennaro Gattuso.

Zielinski’s deal expires in June 2021 and Napoli are hoping to extend the deal with the 25-year-old midfielder, who has reportedly attracted interest from top clubs on the continent.

The report claims that he has a drafted agreement with the Partenopei, potentially tying him to the club for the next three seasons, but everything has stalled because of the COVID-19 outbreak.

But the situation seems to have been solved for Belgium international Dries Mertens, as the newspaper writes that the all-time joint-top scorer has agreed to stay put and only the official statement is missing.

Napoli were going through a great spell before the suspension of all games, on a undefeated run of five games, winning seven of their last nine matches across all competitions.

The run includes a 1-0 win against Inter in the Coppa Italia and a 1-1 draw in the first leg of the last 16 in the Champions League against Barcelona.
