Pepe Reina says Napoli need to show more consistency in future if they want to challenge to win the Scudetto any time soon.

The on-loan goalkeeper believes the difference in quality between their good and bad displays this season has been too great to pose a threat to Juventus or Roma.

“The difference between our good and bad matches must be reduced,” Reina told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.

“To get closer to Juventus and Roma we need to limit our poor performances.

“But we also need to say that the reason we are so far behind is not because we have been poor but because they have been so good. I congratulate them for that.

“The season up until now has been positive, both looking at the stats and at our mentality.

“We have done very well, we are in the final of the Coppa Italia and our European campaign was good.

“We will not give up until the end, we still have a mathematical chance of catching Roma and we will try to do it.

“There are still a lot of things we want to achieve, like getting the highest number of points the club has ever had in Serie A.

“Scudetto next year? That’s the aim, but there will be a lot of rivals for it.”

Reina was then asked once again about his future once his loan deal finishes at the end of the season.

“I need to go back to Livepool at the end of the season and then we’ll see what happens.

“I want to give my best until May, then we’ll see. I’m happy here, the fans are great and it reminds me of life in Spain.

“Living here is nice but the final decision will be Liverpool’s.”
