According to Il Mattino newspaper, Napoli won’t make Tanguy Ndombele’s move permanent in the summer sending the France midfielder back to Tottenham, but hoping to get him for a lower fee than €30m.

The 26-year-old scored his first Serie A goal against Torino on Sunday but has not been a regular starter at the Stadio Maradona this season, despite his 33 appearances across all competitions.

Ndombele joined Napoli on loan from Tottenham with an option to buy in the region of €30m last summer. According to Il Mattino, the exact fee agreed by the Partenopei and Spurs is €28m, but Napoli are unwilling to pay as much to sign the midfielder permanently.

Therefore, Ndombele will likely return to North London in July, but this doesn’t mean his spell at the Stadio Maradona will end.

According to the report, Napoli could open a new negotiation with Fabio Paratici and Tottenham, hoping for a new loan deal or a permanent transfer for a lower fee.

Ndombele has scored two goals across all competitions this season, one in Serie A and one in the Champions League.

His contract with Tottenham expires in June 2025.
