Victor Osimhen has joined his teammates for a training session at Castel Volturno today, but the Nigerian forward won’t start against Genoa on Saturday.
The Partenopei are preparing for a home Serie A game against Alberto Gilardino’s Genoa but their star striker Osimhen won’t start at the Stadio Maradona tomorrow.
Osimhen returned from AFCON international duty later than expected, landing in Italy on Thursday evening.
Sky Sport Italia reports the 24-year-old arrived at Castel Volturno on Friday afternoon to attend the final training session before Saturday’s Serie A round.
Coach Walter Mazzarri spoke at a press conference before today’s training session, saying that he will decide whether Osimhen will be available on the bench.
This means Osimhen won’t be included in Napoli’s XI against Genoa but will probably return to the starting line-up in a Champions League game against Barcelona on February 21.
Osimhen has scored eight goals in 18 appearances across all competitions with Napoli this term.
