According to reports in Mexico, Napoli winger Hirving Lozano didn’t participate in Mexico’s 3-2 loss against Colombia yesterday because of a new muscle injury.

The 27-year-old had played 90 minutes in an international friendly against Peru on September 25 but remained on the bench for the entire match against Colombia yesterday.

According to Mexican sports paper ESTO, Lozano has suffered a new muscle injury to his right thigh, so he was not involved against the Cafeteros.

Napoli host Torino at the Stadio Maradona on Saturday, when the Serie A season resumes after the international break.

Lozano hasn’t been a regular starter for Napoli this season, having collected 353 minutes across seven appearances.

He has started four Serie A games and was not involved in the last match against Milan, showing his frustration after the final whistle.

The ex-PSV winger has been linked with several top European clubs during the international break, especially Bayern Munich and Manchester United. His contract at the Stadio Maradona runs out in June 2024.
