Hirving Lozano’s season is over as the Napoli star has returned to Mexico to undergo shoulder surgery.
The 26-year-old had sustained a shoulder injury while on international duty at the beginning of February but continued playing for the Azzurri.
Luciano Spalletti’s boys have secured a third-place finish with a game to spare, so Lozano has been allowed to travel to South America, where he will undergo surgery on his right shoulder.
“Lozano has returned to Mexico earlier than planned as he is set to have an operation on his right shoulder, which he injured in a game for the national side on 3 February,” Napoli said in a statement.
The Mexico international has scored six goals in 37 appearances with Napoli this season and his contract at the Stadio Maradona runs out in June 2024.
Mexico is not in South America.
