Napoli also released a statement confirming the hitman would undergo an MRI.
According to Sky Sport Italia, the initial prognosis is not good and there are fears Milik has torn the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.
If confirmed, this would require surgery and several months out of action.
He is heading back to Naples immediately for more in-depth tests.
Napoli could therefore try to find a suitable replacement who is out of contract, but it’d be too late to add anyone to their Champions League squad.
The 22-year-old former Ajax star had a sensational start to his career with Napoli, scoring seven goals in nine competitive games.
