Napoli duo Elif Elmas and Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa have been forced to the sidelines due to injuries after the win over Cagliari.

The Partenopei edged out an important 2-1 win over the Sardinian side on Saturday evening, securing all three points after goals from star pair Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Despite the victory, the team sit one point behind fourth place Bologna after 16 matches.

Napoli have drawn Barcelona in the Champions League Round of 16, setting up a tough task for Walter Mazzarri and his squad. In the meantime, they’ll fight to try and break back into the top four, one of their key objectives this term.

As announced today, Elmas underwent a round of medical tests at the Pineta Grande Clinic this morning which confirmed the presence of a low-grade lesion to his left femoral biceps muscle. He has already started treatment and will almost certainly miss the coming clash with Frosinone.

Anguissa was also absent from squad training today, carrying out a personalised exercise programme in the gym after suffering a contusion to his right foot in the win over Cagliari.
