Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has made contact with Juventus director Giovanni Manna in the search for a new sporting director.

The Partenopei have been in a state of flux since the departures of coach Luciano Spalletti and director Cristiano Giuntoli last summer. After the brief spells of Rudi Garcia and Walter Mazzarri, Francesco Calzona has now started to right the ship and the club are building towards next season.

De Laurentiis has been disappointed with the work of sporting director Mauro Meluso and is planning to make a change in the summer, wanting to shake things up and return to the fight for a Champions League spot.

Napoli look to Manna

As reported by Corriere dello Sport, Napoli president De Laurentiis has opened talks with Juventus NextGen sporting director Manna to try and convince him of the move in the summer. The 35-year-old, who was awarded the USSI Director of the Year award, has taken note of their interest.

The Italian still wants to fully evaluate his position and role with the Old Lady before making a final decision closer to the summer. Two alternatives for Napoli now include Empoli’s Pietro Accardi and Hellas Verona’s Sean Sogliano.
