The chaos surrounding Serbian teenager Matija Popovic continues as Napoli have now joined the race for the highly rated forward.

The 18-year-old seemed to be just a step away from joining Milan last week before everything collapsed at the final hurdle, with agent commissions causing talks to grind to a halt. Juventus then emerged to open talks with Popovic’s entourage, keen to take advantage of the situation.

A number of clubs around Europe including Manchester City and Bayern Munich are also keen to snap up Popovic, who shined last year at the Under-17 European Championships.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, Napoli have now decided to join the race for Popovic, looking to beat clubs like Bayern and Porto to the player’s signature.

Frosinone are also involved in the situation and could receive the player on loan should Napoli ultimately secure his services, giving him the chance of immediate first team football in Serie A.

Juventus have been working to sign Popovic after Milan’s move away, but they also haven’t reached an agreement regarding agent commissions yet.
