Napoli are intensifying talks with Torino for Italy international Alessandro Buongiorno following a meeting with his agent today, but there are still issues.
The defender has been a main target for new coach Antonio Conte since even before he officially took the job at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
Talks were stalled because the player wanted to focus on participating in EURO 2024 with the Nazionale, but the early exit opens up the door for progress now.
Napoli step up for Buongiorno
According to Tuttomercatoweb, Napoli met with agent Beppe Riso today and they hope to get the deal done over the next few days.
Torino are asking for at least €40m, whereas the proposal so far from the Partenopei is worth €35m including add-ons.
Transfer pundit Fabrizio Romano also suggests there is a problem to be resolved with the player himself, as Buongiorno’s entourage want a release clause placed into the contract, whereas Napoli would prefer not to include it.
The salary already seems to be decided, a five-year deal worth €2.5m per season.
