Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has opened talks with Antonio Conte as he considers dismissing head coach Rudi Garcia, Gianluca Di Marzio details.

The Partenopei have started the season slowly under the French coach, sitting fifth in the Serie A table after eight games, picking up 14 points from four wins and two draws. The team have looked decent in the Champions League, beating Braga 2-1 and falling in a close loss to Real Madrid 3-2.

Pressure has started to mount on Garcia and rumours that he’ll be dismissed over the international break have started to widely circulate, with De Laurentiis disappointed at Napoli’s slow start after their Scudetto success last term.

As reported by Di Marzio, De Laurentiis has contacted Conte to start sounding out the possibility of his appointment at Napoli. For now, it’s still unclear if he’s interested in the move nor how much he’d request in wages.

Other coaches, like Igor Tudor and Christophe Galtier, have also been linked with a move to Napoli but the club aren’t particularly keen on any alternatives to Conte for the time being.

Sky Sports Italia report that the former Tottenham and Chelsea coach wants a three-year contract with a similar salary to the one offered to Luis Enrique in the summer.
