Napoli are reported to be interested in bringing Argentine prospect Thiago Almada to the Stadio Maradona from MLS side Atlanta United in the upcoming transfer window.

Almada is an attacking midfielder by trade, but can also be deployed on the wing and has found the net in four of the six league games in which he has featured so far this season.

The 21-year-old was also included in Argentina’s 2022 World Cup winning squad, becoming the first MLS player to win an international world title in the process.

As per Calciomercato, agent Andrea D’Amico, who has had several previous dealings with MLS commodities, confirmed that Almada is a player who could potentially be on the move in the near future.

He said: “Thiago Almada? Yes, I also received confirmations in that regard. He is a player who, as far as I know, Cristiano Giuntoli likes a lot.”

Giuntoli has been credited with providing Luciano Spalletti with a number of gems in recent years, most notably the arrivals of Kvicha Kvaratskhelia from Dinamo Batumi for around €11.5 million last summer and Kim Min-jae for €18 million from Fenerbahce last summer.

If Giuntoli and Napoli were to make a move for Almada, whose current contract runs until 2025, it would reportedly cost the club in the region of €20 million to acquire his services.
