Napoli director Cristiano Giuntoli insists Gonzalo Higuain “is not for sale,” but they’re “not interested” in Diego Perotti or Albin Ekdal.

The Partenopei have been at the centre of numerous rumours over the last few weeks, including Liverpool and Arsenal interest in the Argentine striker nicknamed Pipita.

“Higuain is a phenomenal player and that is why he is not for sale. He will remain at Napoli,” Giuntoli told SportItalia.

“We are seeking a defender and there are many interesting prospects to evaluate.”

There are reports Napoli are in advanced talks for Cagliari midfielder Ekdal and Genoa attacking winger Perotti.

Sime Vrsaljko is a young and interesting player, so we are looking for someone in his position. We like Allan and many clubs are interested. We are working in this direction to continue a complex negotiation process.

“We are not interested in Ekdal. In attack we don’t want to touch anything, as we have many players and therefore Perotti is not a player in Napoli’s sights.”

Despite Giuntoli’s protestations, Cagliari President Tommaso Giulini told reporters “I know the talks for Ekdal to Napoli are continuing.”
