Napoli are on the verge of securing their new centre-back, relatively unknown Brazilian Natan from Red Bull Bragantino for €10m including bonuses.

According to Sky Sport Italia, a deal is imminent for the 22-year-old defender and they are now discussing the details, including how to split the commission payments.

During this afternoon’s training session, Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis was spotted pacing up and down while talking on the phone.

It has been known for many months that Kim Min-jae would leave in the summer due to the presence of a release clause in his contract, which Bayern Munich activated for circa €50m.

Despite more than doubling their money on that deal within a year, the Partenopei have refused to pay the asking price for candidates including Kevin Danso of Lens and Wolves centre-back Max Kilman.

Instead, they seem to have found their man in Brazil, where Nathan Bernardo de Souza plays for Red Bull Bragantino.

He came up through the Flamengo youth academy and is under contract until June 2025.

Natan is a considerably cheaper alternative to Corinthians defender Murillo, whose asking price is €20m.
