Napoli have incredibly failed to convert three of their six penalties in the Champions League so far this season, part of a wider problem from the spot.

The Partenopei won five of their six games in the group phase and are in Germany this evening for the Round of 16 against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Kvicha Kvaratskhelia stepped up and saw his penalty saved by Kevin Trapp at the Deutsche Bank Park.

It was yet another miss-step from the spot for Napoli in the Champions League this season.

Piotr Zielinski converted for their first goal of the tournament in the 4-1 victory over Liverpool, but in the same match Victor Osimhen’s was saved by Alisson Becker.

Glasgow Rangers were thumped 3-0, but Zielinski still saw his penalty kept out by Allan McGregor.

Later that same evening, Matteo Politano converted past the same veteran Rangers goalkeeper.

Kvaratskhelia was able to convert successfully in the 4-2 home win over Ajax, but was denied by Trapp and Eintracht Frankfurt this evening.

It is safe to say Napoli have a problem with penalties, as in Serie A this season the only converted five out of six, with Politano off target against Sampdoria.

They even crashed out of the Coppa Italia to Cremonese in a penalty shoot-out with Stanislav Lobotka making the key error.
