Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret is facing a spell of up to two months on the sidelines after picking up an injury in the second half of the team’s 0-0 draw with Monza in their final match of 2023.

The 2022-23 Scudetto winner limped off with what appeared to be a muscular issue with 15 minutes of regular time to go on Friday evening and has since undergone medical assessments at Napoli’s training ground.

In a report released by Napoli, the club confirmed that Meret has suffered a second degree lesion of the semimembranosus muscle in his left hamstring.

According to reports from Calciomercato.com, an injury of that nature is likely to come with a recovery period of around two months, which could keep Meret out until the end of February or the beginning of March.

In slightly more positive news, Napoli’s report confirmed that back-up ‘keeper Pierluigi Gollini completed Tuesday’s training session in full after recovering from injury struggles of his own.
