Napoli have failed to agree terms with Paris Saint-Germain for Keylor Navas, so they will remain with Alex Meret and Salvatore Sirigu, but could try again in January.

The Costa Rica international was looking for a new challenge after coach Christophe Galtier confirmed Gianluigi Donnarumma is the number one pick in goal for this season.

Napoli had been eager to bring in the 35-year-old shot-stopper to compete with Meret for the gloves at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

However, L’Equipe report that with only a couple of hours left in the Italian transfer window, Napoli have given up on getting Navas.

Meret saved a penalty in last night’s 1-1 Serie A draw with Lecce, boosting his confidence.

Having said that, multiple sources are sure Napoli will try again in January to get Navas, who could even terminate his contract with PSG by mutual consent.

He has been at the French club since leaving Real Madrid in 2019.
