Lega Serie A have decided to fine Napoli following president Aurelio De Laurentiis’ decision to protest against broadcaster DAZN.

The Partenopei president, who is no stranger to controversy, was furious ahead of his club’s clash with Juventus on March 3, exploding after seeing a cameraman in the tunnel, blurting ‘f**k off’ and ‘they must not do it, f**k!’. He was then told the cameraman was a member of staff at Napoli.

De Laurentiis was also furious with the scheduling of Napoli’s Serie A clash with Atalanta, which’ll take place on March 1 instead of April 1, a fact he blamed DAZN for. He therefore decided to ban the club from speaking to the Italian broadcaster.

Corriere della Sera via TMW details how DAZN made an official complaint against De Laurentiis and Napoli a few days after his outburst, writing a letter to Lega Serie A. They analysed the situation and decided to take action, fining Napoli €100,000 for their protest.

Lega Serie A CEO Luigi De Siervo made it clear that clubs in the topflight have a contractual agreement with DAZN and that any violations of this won’t be tolerated. Lazio were also fined €10,000 as a result of this.
