Napoli are working on finalising a new contract for Matteo Politano after turning down an approach from Saudi side Al-Shabab.

The 30-year-old Italian winger has been one of the better performers in the Partenopei squad this term, scoring six goals and providing five assists in 25 matches across all competitions. His current contract with the club expires in June 2025.

Politano’s agent Mario Giuffredi recently confirmed to the media that an offer had arrived from Saudi Arabia and made it clear to Napoli that his client wanted a new deal in the Campania capital, leaving things up to club president Aurelio De Laurentiis.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Napoli are now drawing up the official documents to confirm Politano’s new contract at the club, which’ll be finalised in the coming days.

The 30-year-old will sign a three-and-a-half-year contract with the club, extending his stay to the summer of 2027.

Politano joined Napoli from Inter in January 2020 and has featured prominently over the last four years, scoring 28 goals and providing 24 assists in 171 games across all competitions.
