After Roma, now Napoli are being linked with a January offer for Manchester City winger James Milner.

The England international is out of contract in June 2015, so he could be sold mid-season to avoid the possibility of losing him on a Bosman ruling.

On Saturday the Daily Star reported that Roma were lining up a £10m (€12m) offer for 28-year-old Milner.

Now Il Mattino newspaper claims Napoli are also showing a significant interest in the player on the orders of Coach Rafa Benitez.

Another alternative for the Partenopei is Olympique Marseille man Andre Ayew.

Roma would have the upper hand for Milner, as they already have an English player in their ranks – Ashley Cole – and a sense of stability.

Il Mattino warns Napoli are not eager to spend large sums on players requested specifically by Benitez while his future is still up in the air.

Benitez’s contract expires at the end of the season and there are no signs of a renewal.
