Napoli have real injury concerns around Kalidou Koulibaly, with reports he could be out of action for two to three weeks.

The centre-back limped off during this evening’s 2-2 draw against Sassuolo at the Mapei Stadium.

His absence was sorely felt, because the Partenopei had been 2-0 up and were at 2-1 when Koulibaly was replaced by Juan Jesus.

They went on to concede the equaliser and Gregoire Defrel had scored a third for Sassuolo, which was disallowed for Domenico Berardi’s foul on Amir Rrahmani.

An official statement from Napoli notes Koulibaly suffered from a left thigh issue.

Lorenzo Insigne (left calf) and Fabian Ruiz (right thigh) were substituted “as a precaution.”

According to Sky Sport Italia, the initial view on Koulibaly is not reassuring, with fears he could be out for two to three weeks.

He is therefore almost certainly out of this weekend’s clash with Atalanta, but also a major doubt for the Scudetto showdown with Milan.

There is also the issue of Senegal, as he is meant to be going on international duty for the Africa Cup of Nations in January.
