Napoli are trying to negotiate a new contract with Kim Min-jae, because it is reported the release clause is only set at €45m from July 2023.

The South Korea international was snapped up from Fenerbahce over the summer at €20m as a replacement for Kalidou Koulibaly following the move to Chelsea and has been a revelation.

The 26-year-old has therefore already attracted huge interest on the transfer market, with Manchester United ready to break the bank for him.

A January sale would seem to be out of the question, but Sky Sport Italia expert Gianluca Di Marzio claims the rumoured release clause in his contract is worth only €45m.

It is valid from July 2023 and only for clubs outside of Italy, but still would be considered very little for the fee Kim Min-jae is capable of commanding in today’s market.

This is why Napoli have been working on a new deal for weeks already, hoping to increase the figure of the release clause, aware his agents insisted on having one put in there.

His contract is technically only to June 2025, but with the option to extend for another two years.
