Napoli fear a Gonzalo Higuain repeat as Juventus monitor Kalidou Koulibaly’s contract situation closely, according to reports in Italy.

Higuain left Napoli for the Bianconeri in 2016 following his record-breaking goal scoring campaign in a move which Partenopei fans could not forgive.

And Tuttosport report the club fear a similar situation could occur with Koulibaly as the Senegal defender has yet to pen a contract extension.

The report suggests the 30-year-old is disappointed at having been offered a contract with a salary reduction and, with just 12 months remaining on his current deal, it could see him leave this summer.

Juve will see iconic captain Giorgio Chiellini leave when his contract expires on June 30 and are in the market for an imposing central defender.

Koulibaly has been at Napoli for eight seasons and has been one of the best defenders in the world throughout that time.

In the 2017-18 season, he scored a last-gasp winner at Juve which put Napoli close to the Scudetto but they were eventually pipped by the Bianconeri.

Emerson came to Juve, Cannavaro came to Juve, Higuain came to Juve, Bernadeschi came to Juve, Chiesa came to Juve, Pjanic came to Juve, Pirlo came to Juve, Vlahovic came to Juve. All those transfers were common in the sense, every one of those players wanted to go to Juve. If he wants to, there is nothing Napoli can do about it, or yourself

  2. I understand that football is a business, but ADL can’t expect Koulibaly, who is not only one of Europe’s best defenders but also a leader on the pitch and in the locker room, to stay at Napoli when faced with a reduced salary.

Sometimes I worry that ADL is becoming the Al Davis of Serie A. Davis, for those who might not know, owned a once-legendary NFL (American football) franchise, the Raiders, and ruined it by interfering with personnel and coaching decisions. They have been a mediocre laughingstock for more than 30 years and were once among the most feared teams in American football.

  3. you dont win trophies by being cheap. that hs always been napoli downfall. if he dont go juve, some other club will come in. in fact teams should wait till january and get him for next to nothing because i doubt his contract will be extended at those salary figures.

  4. Koulibaly has publicly said he told his agent not to talk to Juventus as he would never join them.

Today his agent said that he is not in any negotiations with other clubs as Kalidou is focussed on renewing with Napoli.

  5. Koulibaly loves the city, and Neapolitans are mad about him. He’s done a lot for the team. ADL should show a little more respect.

  6. KK will never go to juve. He has even said it. He loves Napoli and the city. Also a huge difference between a leader like Koulibaly and someone like higuain. Literally every single starter for Napoli has been “linked” to a different club. Getting tired of it. Also well beyond tired of adl. The sad reality might be Napoli will never win a scudetto with him owning the team. I will give credit where it’s due. He has brought in a talented squad and weathered the storm with the manager change by bringing in Spalletti, but I wish Ancelottj would have worked out.

  7. He is 30 and still not old enough for PhD Max. Napoli fans should calma. Look at Perisic, he is going to Spurs as he was too young for the quota. Even Di Maria is being held up as Medieval Max has to evaluate his age. Saying that it is very tempting for Kalidou to work with the best Italian coach ever produced. A two time CL runners up winner and a Matrix Revolutions brand of slow blow. Such a tempting prospect.

  8. Ciro –

Al Davis was the principal owner and general manager of the Raiders and wound up ruining the club with his petty jealousies and play-calling from the owner’s booth. ADL has looked over his coaches’ shoulders for years. He’s frequently a menace to his own team.

I’m a Juve fan so of course I want K2 to join Juve. I dunno why you added that ‘yourself’ part. But I’m being realistic. I don’t think he wants to join Juve.
