Napoli are favourites to sign Lille defender Gabriel Mahalhaes, as France Football claim they have the upper hand over Everton thanks to Gennaro Gattuso.
According to the French publication, coach Gattuso personally called Gabriel and presented his case in ‘passionate’ fashion.
This impressed the 22-year-old centre-back, who is seen as a potential heir to Kalidou Koulibaly.
Everton are also strong contenders for his signature, but the Brazilian does seem to be leaning more towards the Stadio San Paolo.
