A banner demanding Luciano Spalletti leave Napoli was found outside the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium on Wednesday.

Napoli had been on course to challenge for the Scudetto this season but recently fell away following a series of disappointing results.

And a group of supporters appear to be taking their frustration out on the manager.

The banner, written in Neapolitan dialect, read: “16-10-21: Spalletti, we will give you back your Panda…as long as you go!”

It was signed “thieves” and the suggestion is that the people who stole Spalletti’s Fiat Panda from under his hotel room on the night of October 16 last year would return it to him as long as he leaves the club.

This is the latest incident which highlights Napoli’s disappointing end to a campaign which promised so much.

Before their previous match with Sassuolo, eggs were thrown at the team bus and then delivered to captain Lorenzo Insigne to distribute to the whole squad.

After Napoli’s win at Atalanta with seven matches remaining, they appeared the most in-form of all the sides challenging for the Scudetto but they won none of their next three games to completely fall away.

  1. Ok, Neapolitan fans should taka a chill pill. I’m starting to suspect that they are actively causing the team’s inconsistency by being waay too intense all the time. Maybe that’s the reason napoli’s HOME form has been so bad, too much pressure stemming from somewhat unrealistic expecteations.
