Napoli face strong competition in their bid to sign Udinese forward Gerard Deulofeu, as Villarreal and Real Sociedad are also in the running.
The Partenopei had seemed confident a deal was imminent for the Spain international, having agreed personal terms worth circa €2m per season plus bonuses.
However, they are struggling to settle on a fee with Udinese, who rejected the initial €13m proposal.
The Friulani are eager to spark a bidding war and Mundo Deportivo believe it’s on the way, as Real Sociedad and Villarreal are also interested in signing Deulofeu.
The 28-year-old scored 13 goals and provided five assists in 34 Serie A appearances this season.
He was also linked with West Ham United or a potential return to Milan, where he already played on loan from Everton in 2017.
Udinese paid Watford €17m to purchase Deulofeu outright in January 2021 after an initial loan period and do not want to let him leave on the cheap, especially as his contract with them runs to June 2024.
