Napoli have contacted Nicolo Zaniolo’s entourage to explore a summer move for the Roma star, reports suggest.

The 23-year-old Italian forward only has around 18 months left on his current contract in the Italian capital and there’s no guarantees that he’ll put pen to paper on a new deal.

His agent Claudio Vigorelli will meet with the Giallorossi’s management next week to further discuss a new contract but it’s clear that Zaniolo expects a significant salary bump and to be a central figure in the project.

As detailed by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Napoli have emerged as serious contenders for Zaniolo. The Campania outfit have already contacted Vigorelli to register their interest in a move and the Italian forward is open to joining Luciano Spalletti’s side, believing it could help him make the next major leap in quality.

Whilst Zaniolo’s priority is to sign a new contract with Roma, if he fails to reach an agreement with the club then a move to Napoli would be a welcome alternative.
