Sky Sport Italia transfer guru Gianluca Di Marzio and Rai Sport both claim that Napoli and above all Coach Maurizio Sarri are unconvinced by Deulofeu, as they see the Barcelona benchwarmer as a pure counter-attack specialist who doesn’t combine well with teammates.

This would make it difficult to fit into Sarri’s fast-passing tactical set-up.

Instead, the attention is turning to Politano, who would love a move to Napoli and will ask his entourage to beg for a transfer.

It’s believed the two clubs could reach an agreement to sign the Italian winger for around €20m plus defender Nikola Maksimovic on loan to sweeten the deal.

Politano has also been linked with Roma and Juventus, as this season the 24-year-old has contributed three goals and three assists in 18 Serie A appearances.

He is also versatile, able to play on the right, left or as a support striker and came up through the Roma youth academy.
