Napoli doctor Raffaele Canonico says Matteo Politano will remain out of action for three weeks while Victor Osimhen will likely miss games against Torino and Ajax.

Politano pulled out of the Italy squad earlier this week with a ‘tear to his right anterior talofibular ligament.’

“He is expected to remain out for three weeks and then it will depend on how he recovers,” Napoli doctor Canonico told Radio Kiss Kiss as quoted by Calcionapoli1926.it.

“The ankle’s condition is improving every day.”

Osimhen sustained an injury in a Champions League clash against Liverpool and his return to action is still far away. The Nigeria international had suffered a second-degree lesion in his right femoral bicep.

“Pace is one of his peculiar characteristics. We are talking of an athlete whose top speed sprint is 34/35 Km/h. To reach that and to achieve specific standards he must be well trained.

“In general, the recovery time for these sorts of injuries is five weeks, so the week of the Cremonese clash is crucial.”

Osimhen is still playing with a protective face mask despite having recovered from a cheekbone injury suffered last year: “He still uses it to feel safe, even if he has completely recovered now,” Canonico revealed.

Diego Demme has missed the opening games of the season and the Napoli doctor has confirmed the midfielder is ready to return to training with the rest of the team.

Napoli host Torino at the Stadio Maradona on Sunday, October 1. They will then have two away games with Ajax in the Champions League (October 4) and Cremonese (October 9) in Serie A.

The Partenopei are still unbeaten after seven Serie A games and are on top of the table with Atalanta.
