Italian sports papers confirm Igor Tudor is Aurelio De Laurentiis’ first candidate to replace Rudi Garcia, who will get sacked and receive full salary until the end of the season.

Garcia signed a two-year contract worth €2.8 per season with Napoli last summer, replacing title-winning coach Luciano Spalletti.

Calciomercato.com and Italian sports papers confirm the French tactician has a clause in his contract which allows Napoli to terminate the deal in June 2024 if Garcia gets sacked in his first season at the club.

This is very much the case as President De Laurentiis decided to fire Garcia on Sunday following a 1-0 loss against Empoli at the Stadio Maradona.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (page 12), Il Corriere dello Sport (page 2) and Tuttosport (page 17) confirmed on Monday that Tudor is the leading candidate to take over at the Stadio Maradona.

However, ADL has offered a contract until the end of the season with an option until 2025, while Tudor wants the agreement to end straight in 2025, so his agent, Anthony Seric, will have a new round of talks with Napoli today.

Fabio Cannavaro and Walter Mazzarri are alternatives to Tudor while Antonio Conte already rejected Napoli’s offer in October, but Garcia didn’t make the most of the second chance given by De Laurentiis last month.
