Napoli have announced German midfielder Diego Demme has tested positive for coronavirus.

The 29-year-old recently returned from injury but has contracted COVID-19. The player has been vaccinated but tested positive to the latest tests.

The Partenopei have contacted the health authorities and follow the protocol in place, while the player is in home isolation.

“Diego Demme, regularly vaccinated, tested positive for COVID-19 at his last routine check-up this morning,” the club wrote in a statement.

“The footballer is asymptomatic and in isolation at home. The Napoli team group will follow the indications provided by the health protocols.”
