Napoli star Kim Min-jae dreams of winning against Juventus and claims the Partenopei ‘want to write history in our way.’

The South Korea international joined Napoli from Fenerbache in the summer and has had a tremendous impact at the club replacing Kalidou Koulibaly who joined Chelsea after eight years at the Stadio Maradona.

Kim is from the city of Tongyeong, which is also known as the ‘Naples of South Korea.’

“They call it like this because there’s the sea,” Kim told La Repubblica newspaper. “I am rediscovering my origins here. I am a man of the sea and I am starting to visit the city that I really like.”

The 25-year-old doesn’t seem too bothered by the famous traffic jams in Naples: “You have no idea of the traffic in Seoul, I like Naples and I want to stay for a long time,” he said.

The ex-Fenerbache defender is settling in, learning a new language and a new culture. The few Italian words he’s learned so far are mostly tactical instructions from his coach Luciano Spalletti, such as ‘Run, right and left.’

The Partenopei are the only unbeaten team in Serie A having won nine games from 11, drawing two. They have also qualified for the Champions League Round of 16 with two games to spare.

Can they win the Scudetto this term?

“We want to write history in our way, if we keep it up, we can make it,” said the defender who also has another dream: “I respect all opponents, but I have a wish. I want to beat Juventus. Our fans care about it so much and so it’s the same for me.”
