Reports across Italy suggest that Chelsea have been tempted by Napoli’s latest offer for striker Romelu Lukaku, but the West Londoners have still not given the deal their final approval just yet.
Napoli convinced Chelsea will accept latest Lukaku offer
Earlier on Friday evening, Napoli submitted a bid worth €30m plus a future cut of any sell-on fee for the former Inter and Roma loanee. That was an important stepping stone in negotiations, as it was the first time that the Partenopei showed a willingness to go above the €30m mark for Lukaku.
Chelsea’s original request was for a fee around €42m, which would be enough for them to avoid making a capital loss on the staggering €113m fee they paid Inter back in the summer of 2021.
However, Enzo Maresca’s side are willing to accept a cut on that asking price, knowing that they need to shift Lukaku before the close of the summer transfer window.
According to recent updates from Gianluca Di Marzio, Napoli are confident that their latest offer of €30m plus a sell-on clause will be enough to tempt Chelsea into parting ways with the Belgian in the coming days.
The Paretnopei are still waiting to hear back with Chelsea’s official response.
