Napoli were in contact with Chelsea again on Wednesday to discuss the possible options surrounding former Roma and Inter striker Romelu Lukaku, who agreed a deal on personal terms with the Partenopei last week.

Napoli and Chelsea continue talks over Lukaku

According to reports from Gianluca Di Marzio, Napoli and Chelsea had renewed talks about Lukaku on Wednesday as the two parties try to agree upon a reasonable selling price.

Chelsea are reportedly willing to lower their demands from the original asking price of €44m, down to around €35m.

Napoli, meanwhile, continue to push for a price closer to the €25m mark for Lukaku, who has two years remaining on his lucrative contract in West London.

The 31-year-old is also willing to make an enormous sacrifice on his current wages, as reports last week detailed that he has agreed to a €6m-per-season contract, excluding bonuses, in the Italian capital.

Belgium’s all-time leading goalscorer is widely tipped to become Napoli’s eventual replacement for current talisman Victor Osimhen, who in turn has been linked with a move to replace Kylian Mbappe at Paris Saint-Germain at various points of the last year.
