Reports from Spain suggest Napoli are hot on the heels of left back Jordi Alba, who is on his way out of Barcelona in the January transfer window.

The 33-year-old Spanish full back has struggled for consistent playing time under coach Xavi this season, only playing 648 minutes of action across 10 appearances in La Liga and the Champions League. Alba is one of the higher earners in the Barcelona squad and the club are looking to make cuts in the winter.

As reported by El Nacional, Napoli are interested in making a move for Alba in the winter transfer window, keen to snap him up on a free transfer. Barcelona are seemingly willing to let the player leave on a free to lower their wage bill a little.

The Partenopei’s current options are left back include Mario Rui and Mathias Olivera. Alba would add an experienced winner to Luciano Spalletti’s squad in a season where they’re fighting for the Scudetto and possibly even the Champions League.
