Napoli are evaluating the future of forward Hirving Lozano and are considering letting him leave this summer given that he is now into the final year of his contract according to reports on Saturday afternoon.

Lozano joined Napoli in a then-club record fee of €42m from PSV in 2019, signing off on a five-year deal until the summer of 2024, however, his future with the Partenopei now hangs in the balance.

The 27-year-old is still suffering with a knee injury sustained against Fiorentina towards the end of last season and has not been able to take part in group training with the rest of the Napoli squad so far in pre-season.

Lozano is also a high earner on Napoli’s wage bill, taking home a reported €4.5m per season according to Calciomercato.com.

As per Calciomercato’s claims, Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis would like Lozano to take a wage cut if he is to stay on with Napoli to a figure closer to €3m per year.

If a new agreement cannot be reached, then Napoli would like Lozano to leave on a permanent deal before the end of the summer transfer window.

Calciomercato notes interest from Los Angeles FC in MLS, but no official approach has yet been made.

If Lozano were to leave this summer, then Edon Zhegrova from Lille has been named as the first-choice target, with Bologna’s Riccardo Orsolini and Tete of Shakhtar also cropping up as suggestions.
