Napoli have held seven meetings with Victor Osimhen’s agent and have started to plan a clause that would protect him from interested clubs in Saudi Arabia, Sky Sports Italia details.

The 24-year-old Nigerian striker wants to sign a new long-term contract with the Partenopei and is hoping for a pay rise, reflective of his importance to the club. He is also keen for the inclusion of a release clause, giving him some control over his future.

Al-Hilal are seriously interested in signing Osimhen this summer and reports yesterday suggested that they had offered him a deal worth €1m net per week.

Sky Sports Italia details how Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has thought about including two release clauses in Osimhen’s new contract – one for teams in Europe and one worth almost double for Saudi Arabian clubs.

The Nigerian striker’s entourage are pushing for a €110m release clause whilst the club want a minimum of €150m.

Further talks are expected soon as both parties are keen to resolve the situation before the start of the Serie A season. Napoli’s campaign kicks off against Frosinone on August 19.
