Napoli confirm Lorenzo Insigne has suffered a ‘minor muscle injury’ while Victor Osimhen will return to group training in the coming days.

The Nigeria international returned to Italy earlier this week after testing negative for COVID. He has been forced to the sidelines due to a cheekbone injury, but could soon return to action with a protective mask.

“Victor Osimhen trained alone having completed the necessary protocols at Pineta Grande following a coronavirus infection,” Napoli announced on Tuesday.

“The striker was put through his paces by Professor Tartaro and Doctor Santagata, performed well and will rejoin the core group in a few days, however, he will need to wear a special mask after his recent facial injury.”

On Sunday, Lorenzo Insigne suffered a muscle injury against Sampdoria, and Napoli reveal he has already begun treatment. Insigne will leave the Partenopei at the end of the season and has already signed a contract with Toronto FC.

“Insigne underwent tests following the knock he picked up against Sampdoria and was found to have sustained a minor muscle injury which he has already started treatment for,” Napoli statement read.
