There is good news from Napoli, who confirm Hirving Lozano has avoided fractures and is allowed to travel back to Naples this evening.

The Mexico international was stretchered off during this evening’s 2-1 Serie A victory away to Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome after a clash of heads with Adam Marusic.

There were fears he had fractured his cheekbone, as it was visibly swollen when he was receiving treatment on the pitch.

Lozano was taken to hospital and given X-Rays, which have come back negative, and doctors decided the head trauma was not sufficient to keep him in overnight.

The player is therefore released to make the journey back to Naples with his teammates.

It was a worry for Napoli, because Lozano has a history of facial injuries, requiring surgery for a nasty cut just above his eye during Mexico’s Gold Cup match against Trinidad and Tobago in July 2021.
