Roma can only wait and hope, as Kostas Manolas and Napoli try to work out personal terms by the end of the financial year – tonight.

The move is already agreed, as the Partenopei will pay the €36m release clause, albeit in a slightly unusual way.

They’ll purchase Manolas, then sell Amadou Diawara to Roma for €18m plus €2m in bonuses, so it is a disguised part-exchange.

They’ll purchase Manolas, then sell Amadou Diawara to Roma for €18m plus €2m in bonuses, so it is a disguised part-exchange.

The reason is that Roma want to register a profit by the end of the financial year, which is June 30.

However, Sky Sport Italia and Sportitalia now claim Napoli have not yet agreed personal terms with Manolas’ agent Mino Raiola, so it’s a race against time to get it over the line by midnight Italian time.

Napoli have always taken longer than most clubs to finalise these details, as they insist on a player handing over their full image rights, which can lead to complications.
