Pescara President Daniele Sebastiani has revealed that Napoli were “very close” to signing Marco Verratti – until it emerged he was a Juventus fan.

Verratti ultimately joined Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2012 after Pescara’s historic promotion to Serie A, but according to Sebastiani, the midfielder may have been Napoli-bound, were it not for him being a juventino.

“[Gianluca] Lapadula was very close to Napoli, so was Verratti,” the patron told Radio Punto Vero.
