Genoa have confirmed that Napoli are closing in on a deal to sign striker Christian Kouame.

Corriere dello Sport reported on Sunday that Napoli had agreed to sign Kouame for €20m and keep him at Genoa until the summer, and sporting director Giorgio Perinetti revealed talks were at an advanced stage.

“We’re talking to Napoli and there have also been intense discussions between the Presidents,” he told Radio Kiss Kiss.

“Now we have to enter the operational phase, where we have to discuss various details such as bonuses and technicalities, which, ultimately, are the things that count.

“Will any Napoli players be included in the deal? We’re not talking about that. In any case, they would be separate deals.”

Perinetti was also asked about Gazzetta dello Sport’s claim that Milan had enquired about Krzysztof Piatek.

“We read it in the Gazzetta,” he continued.

“It’s an indiscretion that surprised us, but one that also makes us proud. Negotiations with the Rossoneri, however, haven’t begun yet.”
