Napoli close in on Dendoncker as Aston Villa midfielder accepts offer

Leander Dendoncker is set to join Napoli from Aston Villa on loan with an option to buy having already accepted an offer from the Partenopei.

Several sources claim Dendoncker will join Napoli on loan with an option to buy from Aston Villa.

The Athletic broke the news, which Sky Sport Italia and Fabrizio Romano have confirmed.

Romano says Dendoncker has accepted an offer from the Serie A giants, who had also been linked with Nottingham Forest midfielder Orel Mangala.

Dendoncker, 28, has made 15 appearances with Aston Villa this season, scoring one goal.

A Belgium international, he has made 32 appearances with his national team, making his debut in June 2015.

If Napoli secure his signature on loan until the end of the season, they will likely drop Mangala.

The Partenopei are currently outside a European placement in Serie A and have already signed three players this month: Pasquale Mazzocchi from Salernitana, Hamed Junior Traoré from Bournemouth and Cyril Ngonge from Hellas Verona.
