Napoli are reportedly delaying the Maurizio Sarri contract to see if Vincenzo Montella would be available.
It has been said for days that Sarri is on the verge of being announced the new Coach of Napoli, replacing Rafa Benitez.
Another day passed with no formal signature or confirmation from the Stadio San Paolo club, even though Sarri did meet with President Aurelio De Laurentiis in Rome.
According to Sky Sport Italia, De Laurentiis also called Montella to see if he’d be available after the sacking from Fiorentina on Monday evening.

According to Sky Sport Italia, De Laurentiis also called Montella to see if he’d be available after the sacking from Fiorentina on Monday evening.
The Viola fired him because they were irritated at his lack of commitment to next season, preferring to go on vacation in Madagascar rather than hold further negotiations.
Montella would be a perfect fit for Napoli, as it is his hometown club and he has far more international and Serie A experience than ex-Empoli boss Sarri.
Sky also maintain Montella turned the Partenopei down, as he’d prefer to take some time off after the fraught relationship with Fiorentina.
If Montella were to go to Napoli, paradoxically it would release Sarri to replace him at Fiorentina.
