Napoli have reportedly opened talks with Bologna over an exchange deal, which would see Manolo Gabbiadini and Amadou Diawara swap clubs.

According to Corriere di Bologna, negotiations can be traced back as far as last January, when former Bologna sporting director Pantaleo Corvino was informed by Napoli counterpart Cristiano Giuntoli that Gabbiadini was “unsellable”.

However, despite Corvino since being replaced by ex-Napoli man Riccardo Bigon, the Rossoblu remain keen to bring the striker to Emilia-Romagna, the Partenopei in turn hoping to bring in 18-year-old midfielder Diawara.

A potential sticking point would be wages, with Gabbiadini reportedly demanding a pay rise at Bologna, to the extent that he would earn more than talisman Mattia Destro.

In addition, Napoli are believed to value the former Sampdoria attacker at €20m, €5m more than €15m-rated Diawara, but the inclusion of Marko Valdifiori in the deal could be enough for an agreement to be reached.
