Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol suggested that Napoli believe their ongoing row with Victor Osimhen over mocking videos on TikTok has been ‘blown out of proportion’.
The club have sparked widespread controversy and condemnation after two TikTok videos mocking their star striker – one poking fun at his missed penalty against Bologna and the other comparing him to a coconut – went viral on social media, infuriating the 24-year-old Nigerian.
Osimhen’s agent Roberto Calenda publicly threatened legal action and the player deleted all his Napoli pictures off of Instagram, suggesting that he may be reconsidering his future in the Campania capital.
Speaking to Sky Sports UK today, journalist Solhekol summarised the dispute between Osimhen and Napoli, highlighting the racist nature of their video and baffling decision to mock their star striker. He also noted how the player still hadn’t received an apology for the videos.
He contacted the club for a comment and their response reportedly suggested that they felt the incident was being blown out of proportion, feeling that it was simply a joke on TikTok meant for younger supporters.
