Napoli have reportedly beaten Juventus, Milan and Manchester City to securing Matija Popović’s services, but the Serbian talent will join Frosinone on loan after signing with the Partenopei.

Popovic had surprisingly landed in Italy earlier this month and was expected to sign a contract with Milan after the end of his deal with Partizan Belgrade.

Nevertheless, the Rossoneri ended negotiations with the striker after hearing requests from his entourage, so the player’s agent have held talks with many other Italian and foreign clubs over the last few days.

Sky Sport Italia transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio and Il Corriere dello Sport are now reporting that defending Serie A champions Napoli have won the race to sign the 18-year-old striker who will soon undergo his medical with the Partenopei.

According to Sky, Popovic has been signed ‘in synergy’ with Frosinone as the striker will join the Ciociari on loan for the second part of the season.

Juventus and Machester City had also been linked with the promising Serbian forward.
