Napoli are showing interest in Fenerbahce defender and South Korea international Kim Min-Jae, according to Sky Sport Italia.

The 25-year-old only moved to Turkey for Fenerbahce in August for €3m and his performances have already put him on the football map.

He has made 23 competitive appearances for the club this season between the Super Lig and Europa League since leaving Beijing Guoan.

Napoli are in need of a centre-back after selling Kostas Manolas to Olympiakos, while Kalidou Koulibaly is dealing with both injury and the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations duty with Senegal.

He stands at 1.90m (approximately 6ft 3in) and is very strong in the air, which is particularly important in Koulibaly’s absence.

Kim Min-Jae has 37 senior caps for South Korea, in which he scored three goals.

It is unlikely that Fenerbahce will part with him after just six months at the club, while Napoli are also looking at Roma outcast Federico Fazio and Manchester United-owned Axel Tuanzebe, who is currently on loan at Aston Villa.

  1. And this is an example of the problem with Seria A club managrment.

Italuan players are sacrificed for foreign national players. Seria A club owners own the problems that plague the Nazionale.

  2. Agree with Vittorio, whole-heartedly.

Italy, famous in football for LB’s and CB’s and our cubs have to go to Korea to get one? This is beyond maddening.

Any wonder why our National Team is in dire straits these days?

Even funnier when I hear or read comments that Italian players should go abroad. Why the hell should they? To learn football? No. Italy is the place for Italian players.

There is no more identity to international football anymore.

  3. Vittorio,

The truth of the matter is, Italy has sadly always been a nation of sell-outs. It pains me to write this.

Soon enough an accusation of racism will appear towards my comments, just watch.

Things will only get worse too. It will take Italian players being down to 0% in their own country, 10 failures to qualify for a tournament, before these incompetents think of doing something about it.

Italian football is doomed. Sad part is others think more highly of our players than we do.
